As an Enterprise Sales Engineer:

  • You will be responsible for working with our customers to understand their individual IT Operations needs and build out innovative and differentiated solutions that will help these organizations to simplify all things IT.

  • You will need to understand the capabilities of SolarWinds software, the needs of our customers, and facilitate a meeting of the two.

  • You will work in a partnership with a Sales Executive who will handle the commercial and legal requirements, while you focus on becoming a trusted advisor with our key customers to earn their trust and deliver amazing results.

  • You will need to be comfortable working with product specialist engineers, business unit resources, marketing and product.

  • You will effectively perform detailed product demonstrations, during which you must effectively promote product solutions, answer audience questions and clearly ascertain the prospect’s needs and requirements.

  • You must demonstrate expert knowledge of the entire SolarWinds’ Network, Systems, Security and Database product portfolio.

  • You will work with customers to uncover core business drivers and determine how our technology can meet their needs.

  • You will coordinate various specialist resources to ensure the solution design meets all the technology needs of the customer/business.

  • You will evangelize SolarWinds, our product portfolio and the success that customers have had.


  • Minimum 5 years relevant face to face pre-sales experience.

  • 5+ years of experience with Network, Application, Storage and Virtualization technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Business or Computing discipline.

  • Substantial experience in Linux/Unix, Windows 2012/2016 and SQL 2012/2016.

  • Substantial experience with TCP/IP based networks and a fundamental understanding of Network and Application Management protocols including SNMP, Syslog, SNMP Traps, ICMP, WMI, RPC, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.

  • Must have excellent reasoning and technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills are critical for this position.

  • A strong mix of technical ability, sales and customer interaction skills are required.

  • Prior experience in a similar pre-sales or technical role within a software vendor or a preferred partner/systems integrator.

  • Strong knowledge or first-hand experience with IT Operations (IT practitioner, Manager or Director in a previous life).

  • Comfortable in speaking with all levels of the organization from the CEO down to the IT practitioner.

  • Comfortable in a group environment, including being on stage.

  • Strong knowledge of how IT can drive business outcomes and increase company results.

  • Demonstrates and implements product customization in lab and in prospect’s environment.

  • The ability to think outside the box to come up with innovate solutions and outcomes.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to travel 50%
