The SolarWinds APAC team is growing! As a Sales Engineer, you will have an opportunity to be part of the growth story by exciting customers, channel partners and sales colleagues every day on the value of SolarWinds products. You will be using your in-depth technical knowledge of the product portfolio to provide sound technical advice, enable a great experience for customers and partners during the product evaluation cycle, and gain customer commitment. This will include interaction via email, telephone, online remote meetings, and may involve occasional travel.

  • Demonstrates SolarWinds solutions that make the job of IT professionals easier

  • Solid understanding of market landscape with exceptional ability to position products.

  • Assists customers to successfully evaluate SolarWinds solutions to meet their requirements

  • Provides best practices on product design and architecture using Visio.

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting techniques on all SolarWinds products. Identifies and isolates issues through log analysis.

  • Assists sales reps to offer product solutions that solve business needs and overcome challenges.

  • Educates channel partners on the latest SolarWinds offerings

  • Delivers technical training on new and updated products to pre-sales and sales staff.

  • Represents SolarWinds as a speaker during SolarWinds sponsored events

  • Works closely with the SolarWinds Product Management team communicating customer feedback, feature/functionality requests and issues.

  • Answers and assists the Sales Engineering team with technology specific questions/issues.

  • Identifies trends/patterns of product issues and effectively communicates to Management where improvement is needed.


Must meet most requirements listed:

  • Strong oral and written business communication skills.

  • A good mix of technical ability, sales and customer interaction skills are required.

  • Prior experience in a similar pre-sales or technical role within a software vendor or a preferred partner/systems integrator is highly desirable

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Business or Computing discipline or 5+ years’ experience in related field (Network Engineer, Network Administrator, System Administrator or similar IT related job function).

  • Subject Matter Expert in, at least, one of the following categories: Networking/Application/Virtualization/Database/Storage Technologies.

  • Experience in delivering technical training to pre sales and or/sales staff internally and externally to partners and end users is highly desirable

  • Substantial experience with TCP/IP based networks and a fundamental understanding of Network and Application Management protocols including SNMP, Syslog, ICMP, WMI, RPC, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.

  • Substantial experience in Windows 2012/2016 and SQL 2012/2014/2016 is highly desirable

  • Substantial experience in Storage and Virtualization Technologies is not required but highly desirable

  • Must have excellent reasoning and technical troubleshooting skills.
