Solarwinds is searching for Sr. Technical Accountant for our growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing all financial reporting documents - This is including but not limited to monthly and quarterly board and bank reporting, the annual report and other external filings;

  • Assist in preparing GAAP financial statements including cash flow statements and EPS;

  • Assess new and proposed accounting standards issued by the SEC and the FASB for impact to the company. Write position papers to determine proper accounting treatment where applicable;

  • Lead and play an active role in implementation of new accounting pronouncements specifically related to the lease standard and revenue standard as it relates to commissions ensuring compliance with GAAP reporting requirements;

  • Perform technical research on complex accounting issues, including drafting memos and position papers, and provide accounting consultation advice to business partners under US GAAP;

  • Work with auditors and related parties on all SOX related activities and ensure SOX 404 compliance for relevent areas;

  • Lead and manage the process of actively updating and maintaining accounting policies, such as working closely with process owners to update policy to reflect or improve process and ensure compliance with GAAP;

  • Prepare month- and quarter-end close activities for specific accounting areas that require technical accounting knowledge such as debt, internal-use software, website development and stock-based compensation;

  • Prepare data and other support information requests as needed for audits and reviews conducted by external auditors; and

  • Assist with other projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and application of GAAP and SEC/financial reporting requirements including financial statements and footnotes;

  • Ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions;

  • Must be able to effectively manage critical deadlines;

  • Ability to work in a team environment;

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;

  • Self-motivated, strong work ethics and able to work independently with minimal supervision;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement;

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Power-point required;

  • Minimum of a BA/BS in Accounting;

  • Licensed professional (CPA) preferred;

  • Minimum 5+ years experience with a minimum of 3 years of Big 4/Tier 1 auditing required;

  • Experience using NetSuite ERP and Workiva applications a plus.
