Solarwinds Inc. Sales Engineer - Networking in Lehi, Utah

Overview

As a Sales Engineer you will provide prospects, sales staff, channel partners and resellers with technical product advice during sales discussions. This position requires the ability to effectively perform detailed online technical deep-dive demonstrations, during which you must effectively promote product features, answer audience questions and clearly ascertain the prospect’s needs and requirements. As a Sales Engineer you must demonstrate expert knowledge SolarWinds’ Networking portfolio. You will be responsible for providing prospects with assistance during the product evaluation cycle. This will include responding to technical queries via email, online remote assistance, troubleshooting and solving complex pre-sales support problems. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 3 years technical product support or relevant pre-sales experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate SolarWinds solutions to showcase features that make an IT professional's job easier.

  • Provide technical assistance to customers evaluating SolarWinds solutions to ensure their success criteria are met.

  • Perform troubleshooting of all SolarWinds products.

  • Provide best practies on product design and deployment architecture using Visio.

  • Assists sales team in offering products that solve business needs and technical challenges.

  • Deliver technical training on new and updated products to sales team members.

  • Communicate customer feedback on product feature/functionality and challengs to SolarWinds Product Management team.

  • Respond to customer questions via email.

  • Maintian accurate documentation of all customer interactions in CRM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 3+ years experience in a related field (Network Engineer, Network Administrator, System Administrator or similar IT related job function.)

  • Possess strong oral and written business communication skills.

  • Prior experience in a pre-sales technical role with a software vendor is preferred.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Must have strong technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience delivering technical training to sales staff is highly desirable.

  • Experience with TCP/IP based networks with a solid understaning of Network and Application management protocols including ICMP, SNMP, Syslog, WMI, RPC, DNS, DHCP and LDAP.

  • Experience administering Windows Server 2012/2016 and SQL 2014/2016/2017.

Preferences:

  • Experience in a pre-sales technical role with a software vendor.

  • Experience implementing/administering SolarWinds products.

  • Experience administering servers (Windows, Linux/Unix.)

  • Experience configuring network devices (routers, switches, firewalls.)

  • Experience administering Virtualization and Storage environments.

  • Experience delivering technical training.

  • Experience working with programming languages like Perl, Python, PowerShell, etc.

  • Experience creating custom reports utilizing SQL queries.
