Solarwinds Inc. Senior DoD Sales Manager in Herndon, Virginia

Overview

The Federal DoD Sales Manager is responsible for building and managing a team of DoD account manager’s based in Herndon, VA. In addition to managing the team to goal, the candidate will be responsible for developing and executing against a strategic plan that will maximize the penetration of Solarwinds products in the DOD marketplace. This position is a hands on job with responsibility for driving a daily revenue model while ensuring Solarwinds is best positioned for program capture opportunities. Responsibilities

The Federal Sales Manager has responsibility for all activity within the DOD territories, including:

  • Consistently deliver aggressive license revenue targets - commitment to the number and to deadlines

  • Garnering of a rapid and thorough, high level technical understanding of the SolarWinds solutions portfolio. This will include a full comprehension of the SolarWinds licensing model.

  • Achieving sales targets for SolarWinds products, solutions and initiatives within specific time frames across multiple market segments

  • Using Salesforce.com as a sales management productivity tool and champion its use with the Sales Reps and SE’s

  • Providing timely and accurate business forecasts to management

  • Building and effectively lead an inside sales organization through training, development, and daily goal/objective setting

  • Working closely with other cross-functional management teams in marketing, engineering, and Federal Channel manager

  • Executing on appropriate internal and external processes

  • Work with Reps on day to day functions and metrics that have been proven to drive our sales

  • Drive reps to goals and bring a constant energy level

Qualifications

  • Must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to build and motivate a sales organization to ensure both short and long term goals, objectives and quotas

  • Ability to understand sales numbers and manage to daily sales metrics

  • Ability to make adjustments to maintain deal velocity and momentum

  • Ability to understand and communicate business concepts

  • Ability to adapt to changing business issues and requirements

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Federal quota carrying sales role with demonstrated achievement

  • Minimum of 2 years sales management experience

  • Experience with Salesforce.com

  • Ability to lead, motivate and execute with a team of inside sales resources

  • Proven ability to recruit, train and scale against aggressive growth targets

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment
