Solarwinds Inc. Junior Engineer (part-time) in Brno, Czech Republic
What would you do?
You will be part of content development team responsible for keeping up-to-date data about patches and security updates for a set of supported operating systems and 3rd party products. You will be working among other junior colleagues in the team and occasionally cooperating with experienced developers and testers from our product development teams.
As an Associate Content Developer you will be responsible for tracking new patch and security update releases from our supported vendors, you will be creating content in defined formats (e.g. xml, LUA script) for our 3 product lines and verifying the newly prepared content works as expected.
We like to have fun while at work and we hope you will take part - be it on stand-ups with ice-cream, team barbecues on terrace or going for fancy lunch once in a while (or more importantly having another opinion in a regular discussion on what actually counts as a "fancy" lunch).
What do we expect from you?
We want you to have a general IT background, basic knowledge of HTML and XML, strong sense for detail and basic user experience with Windows and Mac or Linux OS.
We do not require you to have a formal experience with software development, but we will give you opportunities to learn from experienced developers and QA engineers, so, you can grow your skills and prepare to start your future career as a junior software developer or tester.
This position is suitable for students as a part-time job (20h per week).
Basic networking or scripting knowledge is nice to have.
What are we using?
We are using virtual machines with various operating systems for product installation and content verification. We use various formats for our content (e.g. XML) and you will be running pre-prepared scripts (e.g. LUA).
The tools we use on daily basis are Git, Jenkins, JIRA and Confluence.
We use English in communication with US, Canada, Scotland, etc.
