Solarwinds Inc. Associate Test Engineer in Brno, Czech Republic

Overview

What does the LEM do?

Log & Event Manager (LEM) is a web application. LEM has agents installed on various network elements. The agents read and normalize application logs. Based on the logs, LEM can decide if there was a threat. If so, LEM can defend network and other company assets like DB, files, computers, accounts by executing appropriate actions. Our customers buy LEM to protect their property as well to pass hard security audit.

LEM is right now undergoing huge reconstruction: we write a brand new UI in the latest Angular. We define a new REST points, fix bugs, refactor the old code and write a new functionality.

LEM is written in Java and Angular 7. The progress is tracked in Jira, documents on Confluence, automation with TeamCity for continuous delivery and Bitbucket for version control and code reviews.

What is the next challenge for upcoming release?

Our customers need to configure dozens of agents to send just the proper logs to manager fast and easily. Can we do that in 3 clicks? Can we increase the throughput of incoming log lines? we have right now throughput up to 3000 events per second, one event might be up to 64kB big (16,5 TB/day). How to filter the data? Is there a way to retrieve the amount back for fast and reliable reporting?
