Overview

SolarWinds is looking for an associate/junior full stack web developer to join our marketing team, responsible for delivering and supporting multiple highly visible websites connecting our customers to our industry leading products.

Located in Southwest Austin, TX, you’ll get to work alongside and learn from a talented group of web developers, quality engineers and product owners who are passionate about delivering modern solutions and continuously improving ourselves.

Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

As a technologist , you’ll be working in a forward looking environment, contributing to a series of web applications and platforms, microservices, enterprise message queuing solutions, user interfaces and data integrations, in a combined effort to provide highly resilient and personalized solutions connecting our products to our customers.

As a person with an interest in the business, you’ll be interpreting the strategy together with your team and the leaders to drive solutions for the long-term value of SolarWinds.

As a human , you’ll be working in a fun environment where teams organize events throughout the year (lunches, weekly tech talks, games and challenges). Additionally, we understand that life happens, and sometimes you need to work from home to meet the cable guy, or take off early to catch your kid’s soccer game.

To be a bit more specific, we are looking for an associate/junior level engineer who is comfortable working on a variety of tasks, ranging from manual quality testing, writing automated UI tests, developing front-end and back-end code, all while working with our product team to interpret and deliver solutions. In this role, you’ll get to be hands-on with multiple teams and technologies, gaining direct experience and exposure along the way!

Qualifications

About you:

  • You are passionate about learning and want to grow your skills by partnering with other testers and developers and tackling tasks on your own.

  • You’ve completed an intensive web-development bootcamp, graduated with a degree in Computer Science, or you have equivalent working experience as an automated quality tester or web developer.

  • You have an agile mindset. You want to understand why we are building something, so you can help us deliver and iterate.

  • You have competency in one or more programming languages and remain open to learning new ones (PHP and Client-Side technologies are preferred)

  • You are able to fluently write and speak in English, and consider yourself to be a clear communicator, self-aware and considerate of others.

  • You enjoy code reviews and working with others to help the team deliver great code!

  • You are familiar with, or have competency in, most of these:

  • JavaScript (ES6 or ES7), CSS3 and HTML5.

  • Experience with unit testing and/or automated UI testing.

  • Experience with source control tools, like Git, SVN, TFS, or similar.

  • SASS, jQuery, REST, Gulp, WebPack.

  • CI / CD Tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, CircleCI.

  • Working in Agile Teams and following Scrum.

  • Selenium / WebDriver / Applitools

  • Most of the initial work will be in WordPress, helping us deliver features for multiple websites; a working knowledge or exposure to PHP and WordPress will be a bonus!
