Overview

Want to be a technical Application Management Product Manager at an exciting, fast-faced tech company in the Application Management market? As an Application Management Product Manager, you will drive the product roadmap and strategy with a thorough understanding of the market and customers. You will conduct market research, listen carefully to customers to understand their needs as they change and evolve, and translate those needs to clearly defined product requirements that drive the next level of product success. You will work with sales and remove friction from the sales process. You will work with engineering to deliver on the value our customers expect. You will work with marketing and product marketing to communicate that value and ensure that the product is successful in the market.

The product manager is at the epicenter of everything in the company related to product. It's a leadership role which is widely respected within SolarWinds. It requires a blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, people skills, and a willingness to quickly identity problems, resolve those problems, and drive overall product success.

Responsibilities

As the Product Manager, it's up to you to define a successful business strategy and product roadmap, then to work with Engineering, UX, and others to execute on that strategy. You are also responsible for evangelizing the platform, defining roadmaps, creating epics, and user stories, while working with the Product Owner on ensuring those stories are successfully delivered. In addition, you will be responsible for various GTM activities including delivering webinars, conducting analyst briefings, and sales enablement.

• Provide thought leadership, drive the product roadmap, conduct market research, and listen to existing customers & prospects.

• Work with our UX team to create visual designs based on your requirements, vetting those with customers and internal stakeholders before engineering implements

• Work directly with Product Marketing on your product’s messaging, go to market plan, and strategy

• Understand the importance of metrics and telemetry to validate hypothesis and strengthen business cases

• Work closely with engineering, answering questions and providing guidance on defined requirements

• Work with PM peers to align roadmaps and dependencies throughout the Application Management portfolio

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a proven track record understanding dynamic markets, making plans that generate results, and working with the leadership team to align execution to market opportunity. SolarWinds emphasizes strong growth and profitability; therefore, the ideal candidate must be proficient in making trade off decisions that maximize growth and return on investment.

  • A strong drive and ambition

  • Experience with requirements gathering & prioritization, preferably as a software product manager

  • Strong presentation, communication, coordination, analytical, and creative problem-solving expertise

  • Strong technical background with demonstrated skills and experience with technical functions in the Application Management industry

  • Track record of shipping successful products or delivering successful projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Understanding of product marketing, business markets, market research, data analysis and business case modelling

  • Ability to interact with customers, partners, and press/analysts with accuracy and professionalism

  • Ability to think and execute at both strategic and operational levels

  • Demonstrated self-motivation and self-discipline to work effectively and thrive in a high-paced, goal-oriented environment

Preferences:

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

  • Experience working with SaaS products

  • MBA

  • Previous Product Management experience working on a shared software platform
