Solarwinds Inc. Sales Engineer, Associate in Austin, Texas

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate SolarWinds solutions to showcase features that make an IT professional's job easier.

  • Responsible for providing prospects with assistance during the initial installation phase of their product evaluation as well as answer any questions as they relate to the SolarWinds product suite.

  • Troubleshoot and solve simple to moderately complex pre-sales support problems.

  • Conduct demonstrations of all SolarWinds products via Webex with potential customers.

  • Answer product questions via email from potential customers.

  • Provide best practices on product design and deployment architecture.

  • Assist sales team in offering products that solve business needs and technical challenges.

  • Deliver technical training on new and updated products to sales team members.

  • Communicate customer feedback on product feature/functionality and challenges to SolarWinds Product Management team.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all customer interactions in CRM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 3+ years experience in a related field (Network Engineer, Network Administrator, System Administrator or similar IT related job function.)

  • Possess strong oral and written business communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Must have strong technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience in delivering technical training to sales staff is highly desirable.

  • Experience with TCP/IP based networks with a solid understanding of Network and Application management protocols including ICMP, FTP, SNMP, Syslog, WMI, RPC, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.

  • Experience administering Windows Server 2012/2016 and SQL 2014/2016/2017.

Preferences

  • Experience configuring network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)

  • Experience administering servers (Windows, Linux, VMWare)

  • Experience administering SolarWinds products highly preferred

  • Experience administering a ticketing solution

  • Experience working with remote control solution like Dameware, TeamViewer, VNC, etc

  • Experience working with programming languages like Perl, Python, Powershell, etc

  • Experience in a pre-sales technical role with a software vendor

  • Experience delivering technical training

  • Experience creating custom reports utilizing SQL queries
