Solarwinds Inc. Principal Product Manager, Application Management in Austin, Texas
SolarWinds is looking for a product manager to join the Application Management (AppMan) team. As the Papertrail product manager, you will be tasked to build solutions that directly help our customers better understand, troubleshoot, and optimize their custom applications and infrastructure.
In this role, you will be a core leader in the team responsible for supplying expertise to inform product strategy. You’ll be responsible for injecting extensive domain experience as well as customer and market knowledge into the product development process. You will define and execute on a product roadmap, coordinate with engineering and design to deliver on the roadmap, and work with product marketing on the GTM activities to bring new product capabilities to market.

Product Strategy. You will be responsible for developing the product strategy that will lead to product growth, adoption, and continued success for both Papertrail and the Application Management portfolio as a whole.
You will lead your team through scoping and planning exercises that hone in on the most valuable work for our customers that drives growth and revenue.
You will follow technology trends and work with your engineering, design, research, and product marketing teams to learn from customers and find new opportunities to sell Papertrail. You’ll incorporate user research and usability studies to identify key areas of improvement and coordinate with engineering to deliver those improvements.
Measure Success. You will align your cross-functional team on the definition of success by defining, measuring, and tracking OKRs for every initiative. You’ll also define business metrics that provide a short and long-term measure of health and success.
You will coordinate with the product marketing and marketing teams to create content that helps them position and sell your product to existing, new, and future customers.
Market awareness. You will maintain a measured, clear view of key competitors and the broader landscape and use that knowledge to maintain the appropriate competitive differentiation with the product.
Portfolio Integration. You will coordinate with your product management peers to drive integration with the broader APM portfolio.
SolarWinds has too many customers to visit each one. To reach our end users we rely on a combination of phone interviews, web meetings, surveys, and community interactions at industry events.
Direct, hands-on experience managing SaaS-based products
Successful at managing and growing eCommerce-based solutions where little to no sales is involved in getting customers to buy
Ability to clearly articulate the “what”, “why”, and “who” to focus requirement definition, design exploration, and engineering execution on the most important customer value
Software Product Management experience in application performance monitoring, AIOps, log management, or adjacent industry
Strong understanding of development methodologies, technology, languages, and devOps, and devSecOps
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication skills, and ability to interact with customers, partners, and press/analysts with accuracy and professionalism.
Ability to think and execute at both strategic and operational levels.
Demonstrated self-motivation and self-discipline to work effectively in a high-paced environment
Experience working with highly distributed teams throughout the world
Experience in incorporating and, at times, challenging senior level input.5+ years of Product Management experience
Experience working in an Agile development environment
BA/BS in business, computer science, computer engineering or a related technical field preferred.
