Solarwinds Inc. Paralegal, Intermediate in Austin, Texas

Overview

SolarWinds is looking for a Privacy Paralegal to be a component of our legal team. This position will report in to the Assistant General Counsel and, in conjunction with an in-house team of attorneys, be responsible for providing practical advice and counsel regarding data protection and regulatory compliance in both internal and external client interactions. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive cross-functional collaboration, skilled task management, and developed interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter expertise to the commercial legal and sales teams during negotiation of privacy and data protection agreements.

  • Advises business teams on day to day questions about data privacy obligations and commitments.

  • Maintaining electronic records and documentation related to privacy activities.

  • Supporting the company’s privacy compliance program, including compliance with state, federal, and international laws governing privacy and data security, privacy policies and procedures, and privacy training obligations.

  • Conducting legal research and analysis of requirements arising under privacy and data protection laws and regulations.

  • Assisting in the maintenance of content on the privacy and security.

  • Scheduling meetings and conference calls, and preparing relevant materials including meeting minutes and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Handling special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program, an associate degree in paralegal studies, or equivalent experience

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

  • Any IAPP certifications, such as CIPP/US, CIPP/G, CIPM, or CIPT, will be considered a plus.

  • Other certifications in the cybersecurity, risk management, and fraud prevention areas are also a plus.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of prior paralegal or similar experience.

  • The following experiences are preferred:

  • Prior experience with privacy laws and related compliance requirements, specifically in the technology arena.

  • Ability to effectively multi-task and manage time in a fast-paced environment, including accelerating pace as appropriate to meet urgent needs

  • Exceptional organizational skills that allow the candidate to prioritize and work systematically and methodically, while monitoring and managing multiple tasks to successfully meet conflicting deadlines.

  • Confidence in dealing with people at all levels of seniority.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of enterprise technology and SaaS solutions.

  • Knowledge of IT risk management and Information Security principles.

  • Functional knowledge of common privacy and cybersecurity regulatory frameworks (e.g., CCPA, HIPAA, NIST CSF, and FTC guidelines, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, including effectively communicating with executive level employees.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
