Overview

The Operations team is looking to establish a new oversight team monitoring our Mission Critical Applications. This leader will assist in the Operations and Reliability of our Websites, Business Applications and SaaS offerings. Eventually becoming a product expert, leading training on best practices for DevOps team leveraging Solarwinds tools. This role will interface with leaders in North America, requiring solid communication of technical issues and the ability to assist in application troubleshooting. The Monitoring Operations team is a highly sought-after position leveraging SolarWinds products to monitor SolarWinds Marketing, SaaS and Business Applications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Mission Critical incidents and monitoring strategy

  • Must be able to provide 24x7 support as needed for on-call rotation.

  • Mentor engineers to establish Application Runbooks Actively monitor and troubleshoot application alerts with proper levels of communication to the business owner (Network, System, Application).

  • Oversee 24/7 Global Operations team

  • Interface with developers, Quality Assurance and Project Management team to ensure that all production support issues are handled in a timely manner following SDLC policies

  • Manage and tune platforms and monitoring to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved

  • Oversee root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; drive preventative measures on complex projects

  • Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update management on all escalated issues

Qualifications

  • Experience with any of the following technologies: AWS, Azure, IIS, .net, MS SQL, Tomcat, Apache, NginX, Varnish

  • Experience with any of the following monitoring tools: StatusPage.io, AppOptics, New Relic, Pingdom or Solarwinds Orion

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language including PERL, Ruby, Python, Shell, Powershell

  • Experience supporting and operating Windows OS clusters

  • Monitoring SaaS, IaaS, PaaS and On Prem applications for incidents, establishing communication groups and adherence to the Major Incident Process

  • Actively monitor and troubleshoot application alerts with proper levels of communication to the business owner

  • Manage pool of open tickets/issues

  • Interface with developers, Quality Assurance and Project Management team to ensure that all production support issues are handled in a timely manner following SDLC policies

  • Provide 24x7 support as needed and on-call availability.

  • Manage and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved

  • Oversee root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures on complex projects

  • Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues

  • Solid understanding of web administration and troubleshooting

  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
