Overview

The Education Developer uses curriculum and lab development processes to design and develop materials to be used in a variety of training delivery methods, including instructor-led, virtual academy, web-based, and blended training solutions.

Responsibilities

The Education Developer uses curriculum and lab development processes to design and develop materials to be used in a variety of training delivery methods, including instructor-led, virtual academy, web-based, and blended training solutions.

· Designs and develops course and/or lab content for technical or sales courses, including instructor presentations, student guide text, lab activity text, web-based content (including audio scripts), and web-based demos and simulations.

· Uses a structured systems approach to the design and development of training solution components.

· Develops training components that provide engaging, challenging, and meaningful learning experiences.

· Contributes as part of a curriculum development team; works with senior, principal, or senior principal developers on large/critical projects; occasionally working as the primary developer on a small project.

· Demonstrates basic graphics development and visual design skills.

· Basic project management and defines, documents, and track s project tasks.

· Delivers content for FITs, Instructor TOIs, and Instructor Walkthroughs as needed.

· Participates in certification and accreditation exam development, including drafting test definitions, test objectives, and items; participating in exam meetings, item-writing workshops, and beta exam reviews.

· Performs peer review of course and lab content.

Additional responsibilities for the lab developer role include (technical courses only):

· System administration skills.

· Troubleshooting skills.

· Finalizes lab materials through reviews, tests, and quality assurance testing.

· Defines the software and hardware requirements for the courseware being developed.

Additional responsibilities for the course developer role include:

· Strong editorial knowledge and ability to self-edit and proofread training content.

· Basic troubleshooting skills.

· Finalizes lesson materials through reviews, tests, and quality assurance testing.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Minimum 2-4 years technical and instructional design experience.
